Second grade just wrapped a watercolor painting unit. The students created 4 different papers with 4 different watercolor techniques.
- Neon Watercolors, normal painting
-Wet into Wet with Rice
-Wet into Wet with Salt
-Rubbing Alcohol eyedrops
After the watercolor experimentation, the students traced and cut out 3 sizes of a teardrop shape (tracers provided). They used their shapes to create a larger abstract composition.
We focused on compositional balance as well as rhythm and repetition. Glued onto black paper, the results were very striking.
